그림분필 (Geulimbunpil / Pastel)

This hand-made book explores my obsession the concept of nostalgia and the old architecture and urban design of my neighborhood I grew up in highschool. Unlike the some parts of Seoul that are newly developed, my neighborhood was situated on a mountain and slow to tear down the old town that was organically formed with slopes, windy roads, shortcuts, and old telephone booths.

The title of the book “그림분필" (pastel) is also in reference to how the old neighborhood is more colorful in pastel colors which was considered not modern. The book is a record of some of my favorite nooks and crannies of the neighborhood, their location, and what I found so charming about the area.
